Our first session together will be an initial consultation. This is where we can discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve from the therapy.
I will ask you about your current circumstances and how they are affecting you so I can establish a good understanding of your problem. I may ask you how long you have experienced such problems. However, due to the nature of how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works there is no need to discuss your past in great detail or to analyse this.
A very important part of the therapy involves me discussing with you the physiology of the brain and how the brain works. This will give you a better understanding of how feelings and emotions are created. As the old saying goes…..”knowledge is power”.
You will also be given a relaxation MP3 recording which you can use straight away, ideally this should be used every night just before you go to sleep.
In subsequent sessions, alongside the therapy we will be using hypnosis to allow your subconscious mind to naturally implement the positive changes you are creating for yourself.
Hypnosis is a natural state of being which some people describe as feeling a little like daydreaming. You’ve probably experienced a trance like state many times in your life without even realising it. For example, when you’re driving a car and suddenly realise you can’t remember the last few miles, or reading a book where the outside world suddenly becomes less significant.
During hypnosis I will help you to relax and enter a state of focused attention. Once you’re in this relaxed trance state, the subconscious mind is more open to change. I will then give a series of suggestions and new ideas to help bring about positive change. You will feel extremely relaxed and calm and still have an awareness of your surroundings. It is important to note that hypnotherapy is a very safe therapeutic, non-invasive technique and you are always in control of your thoughts and actions.
As a brief therapy in just a few sessions, you should start to notice some positive changes in your life. Some clients feel the benefits after just one session, stating that unhelpful thought patterns become diminished. In most cases, changes may be small at first, but over a relatively short period clients feel calmer and more in control.
